Couples Counseling

Couples therapy/relationship counseling is a form of therapy that can help you and your partner repair difficulties happening within the relationship.

Couples therapy can address a wide range of relationship issues, including but not limited to:

  • Recurring conflicts.
  • Feeling disconnected with each other.
  • Difficulties getting past an affair.
  • Difficulties communicating with each other.

Couples therapy can help you at any stage of your relationship, regardless of marital status, age, race, faith, or sexual orientation.

My approach to Couples Counseling

I use a combination of the following modalities in order to help clients repair their relationship:

  • Gottman method: This method involves addressing areas of conflict and equipping you and your partner with problem-solving skills. It aims to improve the quality of friendship and the level of intimacy between you and your partner.
  • Behavioral therapy: This modality helps couples shape behavior by reinforcing positive behaviors in order to promote stability, while reducing negative behaviors that cause negativity.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This form of therapy involves couples identifying and changing thought patterns that causes negative interactions in the relationship.

What Couples Therapy can help solve

Couples therapy can give you and your partner the opportunity to explore expectations you both have in the relationship and where the disconnect lies. Additionally, Couples therapy can clarify:

  • Roles in the relationship: Couples therapy can help you examine the roles you and your partner play in the relationship and identify disruptive dynamics.
  • Beliefs and values: Couples therapy can help you and your partner discuss your beliefs, values, and religious sentiments and the implications of these aspects on your daily lives.
  • Finances: Finances is a major source of conflict in a relationship. Couples counseling can promote a safe place for both parties to explore spending habits.
