Highly Sensitive People (HSP)

A highly sensitive person (HSP) is a term for those who are thought to have an increased central nervous system sensitivity to physical, emotional, or social stimuli. Often time, HSP are described as being "too sensitive" because they struggle with a lot of "simple" task in the world.

HSP may find themselves in situations where they are easily overwhelmed or they feel like they have to "perform" at the level that others expect of them. They may:

  • See social stress as more taxing than other types of stress.
  • Feel overwhelmed and rattled when they have a lot to do in a short amount of time, even if they technically have enough time to get everything done if they rush.
  • Struggle with saying "no" due to not wanting to let people down.
  • Engage in severe self-criticism because they feel responsible for the happiness of others.
  • Misinterpret conflict or avoid conflict altogether in order to avoid communicating that there is a problem.

I want to work together to help you find a balance with being a HSP and use your gift to uplift you! HSP does not have to be a negative thing where you're banging your head against the wall.
